Design Cuts is a wealth of resources to build your library. They offer everything from textures, fonts, vector graphics and brushes. If you sign up for emails, they will let you know when cost-saving bundles are available. If you can’t wait, they just opened an online store so you can get the goodies as needed.

Not only do they give you access to plenty of resources – but they also show you how to use them in clear, easily reproducible tutorials. All of them can be found in the Design Tutorial Archive.

Introduction: Zoe Ingram

The way I found out about the Lilla Rogers Global Talent Search was when I visited Zoe Ingram’s website. Somehow, I came across her work online and had to know and see more. She was their 2013 contest winner.

Her work is so simple and yet upon closer inspection, not. Her color choices are interesting and her style is fun. See if you agree.

View and Learn

A great place to learn, well nearly everything, is at lynda.com. They provide software training for many software programs. I generally visit when I need a quick answer for Illustrator or Photoshop, but it has also been helpful when learning a whole new skill set – like Keynote.

And truth be told – I have used it extensively for Excel… Not a fan!

You can preview some videos before you buy. For the membership cost of just under $400, you get access to any and all videos for a full year. That amount doesn’t even start to cover your three-day conference registration fee, along with travel and hotel!

Plus, you can view them anytime, anywhere.

Tis the Season!

Another fun competition can be found at tigerprint. This time it is all about design Christmas-themed wrapping paper. Your design could end up in stores nationwide. Just make sure you don’t submit a design that is currently for sale or has already sold. Submissions must be original or unpublished work. The closing date is November 10 so don’t delay.
